(More customer reviews)This is the best small appliance purchase that I have ever made! I absolutely love this little oven. I have been able to cook anything from a pizza to brownies in it. It is very easy to clean after each use and doesn't require any type of scrubbing or special cleaners to bring it back to its original condition. This is the perfect gadget for a single person that likes to cook one meal at a time. This is also the perfect remedy for anyone that has a gas range but hates to cook on it (like me). I ordered this because I moved into an apartment that had a gas oven, which I hate to use, so I thought this would be a great low cost cooking alternative. I couldn't have been more right! This has turned out to be the best little find and money well spent. I use it everyday and will be ordering a replacement whenever I run this one into the ground. I have had it for about a year, but it shows no signs of wearing out. In addition, this would make a great gift for parents that don't want their kids using the stove when they aren't home, but still want to allow them the freedom to cook for themselves. This would also make a perfect gift for anyone that is trying to watch their weight, because it doesn't require you to use any cooking oil. The only con that I have found is that you have to use it on an open counter top, because the lid flips off for adding your food and needs a good bit of clearance. I have about a 15 1/2' clearance between the base of my cabinets and the counter tops, so I have to pull the oven out to the edge to be able to put the lid on the stand. With the cabinet clearance being the only con, all I can say is "ORDER IT, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED."

(More customer reviews)I read the previous review and am wondering how you WOULDN'T burn toast if you set the timer for 25 minutes! Conventional wisdom suggests that the longer you set the timer, the darker the toast. Set it too long and it turns black. Most toasters do not have varying levels of heat (at least in the "toast" setting); rather, it relies on how long you expose the bread at that temperature.

With that being said, the Euro-Pro has been an excellent value for me. It can be found at several major retailers, and I paid less than $30 for mine at Best Buy. Now, if you're all about snob appeal (or a stainless steel chassis) then you'd probably do better buying a Kitchenaid toaster. Sure, you'll pay five times the price, but that's what you get when you desire snob appeal. Actually, you get more than that with the Kitchenaid, but my level of culinary expertise doesn't require the extra features of the higher-priced brands.

Let me extol the virtues of this oven point by point:

1. The Price: It's cheap. It's really cheap.

2. The Look: No, it doesn't have the flair of the stainless steel models, but its clean, white chassis is certainly not offensive.

3. The size: It's not too big, not too small. It doesn't dominate your limited countertop, but it's much roomier inside than similarly-priced models. The Durabrand competitor from Wal-Mart is miniscule compared to this one. Unlike other models at this price, there are two racks inside!

4. Ease of cleaning: I once had a small Black & Decker oven that had a little latch at the bottom that made the bottom swing open. It was an interesting idea, but not always practical. With this one, there is a sliding crumb tray. You simply slide it out and rinse it off. Then you return to its position and you're good to go. It fits very nicely and I've not had one crumb get past it and stick to the bottom of the oven.

5. Ease of operation: It's almost a no-brainer. You have a "bake," "broil," and "toast/pizza" setting. There is a temperature setting that ranges up to 450 degrees. There's a 60 minute timer (rotary dial). There's a red light to indicate that the power is "on." Nothing more, nothing less.

6. Performance: I'm certain that a $150 oven would do better. It had better do better! But if you're looking for a BASIC toaster/countertop oven, you're probably not going to find one better. It does exactly what it claims it will do: Bake, Broil, and Toast. Now, that "Pizza" setting is really for a slice of pizza or one of those small, plate-sized pizzas. If you want to bake a 16-inch pizza, you're still going to go to the other oven in your kitchen.

Overall, this is a good oven. It would make a great gift (Christmas, housewarming, or wedding). I think it would be ideal in a dorm room or similarly-sized living arrangement. Now, you can bake a chicken breast or broil a few chops too!

***Updates***
1. I noticed the other day that there is a stainless-steel version of this same oven available for about $50---that's an extra $20 or so for essentially the same oven, but in trendy stainless steel.
2. Using the black baking tray on the "toast" setting (where the heat comes from above) will blacken/burn your food. Use this tray ONLY while in the "bake" mode.

(More customer reviews)I'm giving this convection/toaster 5 stars based on it's performance at it's price range and class. You can spend 3-4 times as much on a professional countertop convection oven like the Franklin convection oven (Amazon ASIN: B000BQ0CP6) for $250 and get a better product.However, I've used both and by comparison I think you really get your money's worth with this product.

We've had ours for about a month now and use it daily.The results are amazing.I've made numerous frozen pizzas, a meatloaf, cookies, brownies, loads of toast and lots of french fries among other things.The oven performed quite well in all cases. There is definitely a little bit of a learning curve and I goofed up a few things before I figured out how to use it. I would definitely recommmend reading the directions and following many of the recommendations for rack and food placement. That is actually very important.

Some examples of "tweaks" are as follows: With brownies you need a lower temperature than the box states when using convection and you might want to use a combination of convection and regular baking for cakes and browines.

With chocolate chip cookies you want to go with straight convection heat and depending on the mix you use you'll need to tweak the cycle. Cookiesbake in much less time but you can get abolutely perfect and uniformly colored cookies!No more burnt bottoms!For example Ghiardelli dry cookie mix from the box cooks a little differently than the frozen dough that comes in a chub, even though the baking instructions on the packages are about the same.As you might expect you can only make about 6 average cookies, or biscuits at a time.

The convection bake is excellent for making all kinds of frozen french fries that come out perfect every time. Spring rolls come out great. The oven has several pre-programed cycles, a light, a timer, and every cycle offers the opportunity to tweak the temperature and/or time. There is a nice light inside the unit that makes it easy to check food.

Other notes: When making toast be sure to follow the directions for setting the rack.

Major Plusses:

1. Holds a very consistent temperature
2. Does a very good job on many types of food - better than a conventional oven
3. Produces very uniformly cooked foods
4. Cooks many foods in less time
5. Bottom tray is easy to remove and clean
6. Easy to use

A few drawbacks:

1. It does not quite fit most 9 x 13 pans, but will cook 12 inch pizzas.
2. It does get hot and you need to be careful how you open it and where you put your hands.
3. It only comes with one shelf. I would like two shelves for making cookies.
4. There is a bit ofa "learning curve" if you're not used to convection
5. The oven operated at a slightly higher temperature than what my oven thermometer reads, but it holds at one, even temperature very well and it was consistently about the same difference at all ranges from 300 to 450. I'm honestly not sure which temperature was more correct, the oven's or my thermometer's. Based on my baking, the oven may be running a tad hotter than it says but it's easy to adjust. I would recommend checking your oven, as they may differ.

The countdown timer lets you know how long it will be before the toast is ready. We've had other long-slot toasters (non-digital), but the T-Fal digital tops them. I'd buy it again.

(More customer reviews)I saw a toaster with a single long slot used on a TV cooking show once and have wanted to get one ever since.I do a lot of baking, including baking rustic breads.Because they are rustic loaves, slises usually do not fit in regular length toaster slots.Then I saw this baby.Not only is it a long slot toaster, but it has two of them.I was sold.I ordered one right away.In fact I had to wait because Amazon had not yet relieced them for shipping.

Upon arrival, I was not disappointed.It worked just as I had hoped.Not only does it work great for long slices, but it is the best toaster I have ever had period.Once you learn what settings to use for a given type of bread, be it plain old white, wheat, bagels, english muffins, etc., all you have to do is use that setting next time and it turns out perfect.I have not tried the warming rack yet, but I don't see any reason why it would not work great as well.
