(More customer reviews)Had a serious wake up call this morning.At 6:30am, was awakened by smoke detectors going off.Followed the heavy smoke to the kitchen where our toaster was in full flames, most of the plastic was burning, the cabinets were very hot and dense electrical smell.Was able to unplug the toaster, cord falling apart in my hand, and put the fire out.Counter was ruined, as well as part of the cabinet.No one was around or up at that time.From what I can determine, the toaster just caught flames due to an electrical short in the controls.I am glas I did not go anywhere for the holiday weekend, or I would have come home to a burned out apt.I do not recommend this toaster unless you wish to set fire to the place.

(More customer reviews)I love bagels and primarily use a toaster for that one purpose (with some toast thrown in from time to time). This toaster is exactly what I needed as it actually caters to bagels without substituting quality in other applications. Functionally it's pretty flawless. I can get my bagels toasted evenly and at the correct brownness with little effort. It's a nice looking modern toaster, and while it might not have every whiz-bang feature that more expensive models offer, it does what it does humbly and with excellence.

The toaster slot size is 5.375 inches long by 1.5 inches wide.

PROS:

1) Dual trays for bagels or toast with self-adjusting guides for thinner items like sliced bread

2) Cancel button that makes it easy to eject something mid-way through. This is especially handy as you're getting to know the toaster and how to get your desired level of toasting.

3) A bagel button for toasting just the inside of the bagel. There are even markings on the toaster to show you how to insert the bagel.

4) A frozen item button for getting your hot-pockets perfectly cooked.

5) Simple, but pleasing design.

6) Very nice unit for the price.

Cons:

1) Not as many features as some other models.

Summary:

This is a very nice toaster for the price range. It does a few things really well. It might not have everything you could possibly want in a toaster, but for getting a bagel perfectly cooked it's great.

Its also nice looking ... esp. if you have stainless appliances or some stainless handles in your kitchen already.The slanted design really makes this toaster an original.The slanted design seems to make putting toast in and taking it out easier, esp. for kids.Even the buttons are stylish ... and I like how the outer toasting levers align with the inner levers.There are controls on either side and both sides can easily handle a bagel with ease.

There is a good feature to note.The middle push levers ... one for each side.These inner levers are stylish, but have a meaningful purpose, which is to push the toast UP and OUT of the toaster (if needed, if you want to, you don't need to) ... I've never seen a toaster that could do that before!That really is a nice safety / convienience feature ... esp. with smaller bread ... it pushes it up for enough that you don't reach into the toaster at all to retrieve the toast.

It's a big boy ... fairly wide for a toaster ... but worth it because of the quality and speed of the toasting ... and style/originality of the unit.

If I were to try and be more critical, I would say the size could be an issue for those with small kitchens or limited countertop space ... and the slanted design of the unit can on rare occasion launch some lighter toast out of the unit.

But overall, I must give this 5 stars because it does toast and bagels extremely well (no burns yet) and its stylish and original.I would warn that it toasts on a very low setting, so start out with 2 or 3 ... because its fast and powerful ... a higher setting could burn, I would think.

(More customer reviews)Toaster does a great job, especially with bagels. The digital controls allow you to repeat the proper settings each time you use it -- no more guessing. The countdown timer lets you know how long it will be before the toast is ready. We've had other long-slot toasters (non-digital), but the T-Fal digital tops them. I'd buy it again.

(More customer reviews)I saw a toaster with a single long slot used on a TV cooking show once and have wanted to get one ever since.I do a lot of baking, including baking rustic breads.Because they are rustic loaves, slises usually do not fit in regular length toaster slots.Then I saw this baby.Not only is it a long slot toaster, but it has two of them.I was sold.I ordered one right away.In fact I had to wait because Amazon had not yet relieced them for shipping.

Upon arrival, I was not disappointed.It worked just as I had hoped.Not only does it work great for long slices, but it is the best toaster I have ever had period.Once you learn what settings to use for a given type of bread, be it plain old white, wheat, bagels, english muffins, etc., all you have to do is use that setting next time and it turns out perfect.I have not tried the warming rack yet, but I don't see any reason why it would not work great as well.
