(More customer reviews)I bought this toaster to replace my 14 year old Procter Silex toaster, which still works great, but had some issues that were starting to annoy me. I looked at this and a Cuisinart model, but decided to go with the Black and Decker because it looked more attractive.I must say that I am not dissapointed thus far. I love the bagel, defrost and reheat settings!My old toaster had wide slots, but the ones on the Black and Decker are larger, so they will do better with toasting bagels. Another thing I love about this toaster is that when you choose the "bagel" setting it only browns one side of the bagel. How cool is that?! The other cool feature of this toaster is the lift up feature.My old toaster required me to break out the untensils to get the bagels out, so this is really a plus.The only reason why I am giving this toaster a 4and not a 5 is because it doesn't appear to have the cool touch feature. The sides of the toaster get pretty hot.Other then that this toaster is well worth the $$$.

By the way, the product description indicates that this is a 1400 watt toaster.That is incorrect. It is 850 watts. So, those that maintain this site might want to update the description.My old toaster was 900 watts and this outperforms it by a mile.

(More customer reviews)Bought the Cuisinart CPT-170 2 slice toaster after reading many dozens of reviews of all types/brands of toasters online.Came to the realization that every product has negative reviews for one reason or another, so decided that the Cuisinart had the fewest and those were not a concern to me.Since I have received it, it has been a terrific toaster for me.It suits my tastes and looks good, too.Stainless steel and a blue LED count-down timer.I have toasted bread and english muffins without a problem. Browns evenly on both sides of the bread. Thanks for the pushup lever (for small items).It's easy to keep clean, also.Enjoy!

(More customer reviews)I just got this toaster a month ago and I like it a lot.To be fair, I don't toast things every day but I have not had any cause for complaint yet.Put bread in, it toasts it evenly and you take bread out.

I think many people who like "artisan" bread will like this toaster because it does a couple of things that make weird size slices toast well.First, it has nice wide toast holders that can fit longer and thicker pieces of bread.It also has a pop height adjuster that can make it easier to get out those shorter slices.I can't find another toaster for the price that lets you toast this type of bread easily.

If you don't slice or eat specialty breads, you might not want to spend this much unless it is a good match for your decor.It still does toast regular store-bought bread well though.I also had good success with English muffins and bagels although I had to use a higher temperature setting to make it a one pop deal.

(More customer reviews)This toaster is actually the nicest toaster I have ever owned. I struggled between 3 and 4 stars, but really, it's a toaster. If it doesn't do everything you want, you can't really find something else to compensate.

Pros: Love the digital controls and the timer.
Slots are more than wide enough to accept bagels
Toasts my bagels and english muffins to perfection

Cons: As others mentioned, the slots are not long enough to take longer pieces of bread, like a panini
This is the worst for me: the power cord is PAINFULLY short. I don't think it's even 12 inches. If you have a huge kitchen and tons of counter space, you may not see this as a problem. But my kitchen is tiny, and I have a SINGLE outlet to use. Because of the cord's length, I practically have to have this up against the wall (the controls on the side add to this problem, it seems to me every other toaster I have owned has the controls on the front). It's inconvienent, because I have other appliances that stay on my counter all the time, I only take this out for breakfast. Because this cord is so short, I always have to rearrange my counter top every morning. I guess I could get an extension cord or move my blender, but really, why can't Krups put a power cord on this thing that's the same length as the rest of my appliances?

(More customer reviews)I followed the instructions for toast-set the rack to the B position,turned the temp to 500 degrees, set on bake/toast,turned the timer dial past 20 minute than back to the toast shade I desired, I selected the lightest shade possible. I was a little nervous after reading the burned toast comments so I stood by and watched. The toast was perfect, exactly as it would have been in a toaster.

Next I tried a 12" frozen pizza, followed the instructions-set to 425 degrees, set the rack to the A position, set the timer.The only thing I did differently was I placed a sheet of alumium foil under the bottom heating elements on top of the crumb tray because I put the pizza directly on top on the rack (instructions do not indicate to do this).I added extra cheese and spices, set the timer for 10 minutes.The top of the pizza was done perfectly.The crust was slightly burned on the bottom, next time I'll set the timer for 9 minutes and lower the temp(9 minutes for a frozen pizza! wow, even my pizzaz pizza cooker takes 25 minutes).

Yes, the dial is hard to turn at first, it does loosen up, so far this is my only complaint. I can't wait to roast chicken or a full meal using the convection feature. So far so good, very happy with this product.I got it for $104.00, so I'm even happier with the price.
