(More customer reviews)Well, It works (most of the time). But the quality is so so. Sometimes the latch cannot lock into the place. I have to "shake" it a couple of times to make it work. I also notice the possible overcooking problem mentioned in another review when you toast multiple bagels in a short duration. So I turn down the temperature gradually.

(More customer reviews)Usually consumers Reports' ratings lead me to excellent products.in the case of this toaster, It seems impossible to use the "toast lifter" without using so much force that you launch the toast all over the room.If you have guessed right about the darkness you want, the toaster lifts the toast out nicely.If you want to stop the toasting process early, nothing works but brute force.At $10the toaster problem isn't worth returning the item in hopes that a replacement would be different.I am getting pretty good at catching the toast as it flies by.

(More customer reviews)Based on a Consumer's Report review, last year I purchased an inexpensive Proctor-Silex 4 slice toaster, which was as reviewed--wonderful. I needed another such toaster and purchased the one for which these comments are directed--it appears to have replaced the earlier base model. But this one is hardly as good as its predecessor.

The sliding crumb trays have vanished as has the light that one can push to raise the toast before it automatically pops up. And it is not that easy to push the lever down again if the toast needs additional browning. It appears that the toaster needs to cool down a bit before the lever will stay down. And...it takes longer to brown the bread.

It is terrible.

(More customer reviews)IN A NUTSHELL: WE HAVE USED THE MODEL #22205 DAILY SINCE 1997

The model 22205 is almost an exact twin of the model offered here, except it was offered for sale to us in 1997. We have 5 children and this brave little toaster has seen alot of service since 1997 without a single problem.

WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT: 900 WATTS - WHITE ENAMEL FINISH - CRUMB TRAY

We have used and overused this little appliance and while 5 coffee makers and 3 'Foreman Grills' have worn out this toaster keeps toasting just like it always has.

CAUTION: HOT TO THE TOUCH

Like toasters of old, this one is hot to the touch with only thin metal and white baked enamel between your fingers and the red hot nichrome filaments that are powered by 900 watts of electricity. Actually, it was the 900 watts versus 7-800 watts of other toasters that got me to buy this in the first place. It even has a crumb bin! Well, 9.5 years and counting, but soon we may want to replace it for a 'cool-touch', though I think we will always keep this brave little toaster around for sentimental reasons.

(More customer reviews)Obviously, you can't expect a terrific/high quality product for the price of the PS 31115. It will make toast, though you will have to listen to a rather loud timer clicking until completion. The biggest negative is the poor interior design which grossly limits the available vertical space between the rack and the heating filament, which means that you will be fine with toasting or heating a flat slice of bread and/or other item, however, if it comes to a roll or anything approximating even 3" in height, it will be burned or scorched. There are only two heating filaments (one on top & one on the bottom), so heat distribution is not as even as one would like in a unit of such relatively large depth. It generates tremendous heat which almost instantly radiates to the exterior of the rather thin shell, so care must be taken to not accidentally touch the unit during or right after operation...In sum, if you are looking for an inexpensive appliance to make toast and heat/cook flat items this seems like a good value. If you are looking for an "oven" to cook/warm-up even remotely sizeable objects, get something else.

(More customer reviews)I wanted a simple toaster oven to make toast and heat up open sandwiches - nothing fancy- nothing expensiveIt was hard to find because everything has a convection oven (which I didnt' need) which drives the price up into a range I didn't want to pay.This oven meets my needs - it toasts well and quickly - fits 4 slices very tightly (is a little smaller/shorter height inside than I expected.)Easy to see the toast due to rounded door design - I think it was worth the money.
